How deep should I make my treehouse footings?

I'm building an elevated fort/treehouse, size 10x12 feet, 8' above ground, do you know how deep my footings should be?

Answers:

1Jamie is right on target! It is important to get the footing below the frost line to prevent heaving. Unless you live in upper Michigan or similar, 3 feet deep should do. You can call a local engineering firm or the County engineering or Permit office to get the building code depth requirement.
